The Pig and Whistle, Main Ridge
This is a great pub, in a great location that has, unfortunately, had numerous different owners over the last few years. It has at various times lost its way and as such, lost its soul. You know when you are sitting in a pub and you begin by asking “If I owned this….” That is the feeling that has often accompanied any visit to the “Pig.”
Our last experience hadn’t been great so we had frequented for a while. As time had passed and our memories had dimmed we thought to give it another go. Unsurprisingly it seemed to have new management, surprisingly they seem to know what they are doing.
There was a minimal makeover, improving the feel of the pub without removing its unique features. The staff were friendly and knew how to pour a beer. The beer was crisp and tasty. All was going well so we took the giant leap of faith and ordered food. We went with Calamari and Chips and it was delivered quickly, was tasty and reasonably priced.
We left with an unfamiliar feeling for the Pig, that this could become our local!
